The Pursuit of Excellence
Since our founding, Focus Espresso has remained committed to one thing: bringing the ultimate coffee experience to those who truly appreciate it. From our humble beginnings in Kowloon Bay, we have grown into a trusted name among Hong Kong's specialty coffee lovers. Now, we turn our gaze to the most dazzling peak in the coffee world — Geisha.
We carefully select micro-lots of Geisha from the world's finest estates, applying our rigorous standards and roasting craftsmanship to present this king of varieties in its full glory. True top-tier Geisha is produced in extremely limited quantities, and each lot expresses a unique flavor profile shaped by climate and processing.
The Story of Geisha
Geisha originated in Ethiopia but was once overlooked and forgotten. It wasn't until 2004, when Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama entered it into the Best of Panama (BOP) competition, that it astonished the world with its overwhelming flavor — judges were stunned by its unprecedented floral intensity and delicate complexity. Since then, Geisha has become a legend in specialty coffee, consistently breaking auction records.
Just as Geisha blossomed after silence, Focus Espresso has grown from a small shop's perseverance into a representative of Hong Kong's specialty commercial coffee. We believe true value deserves to be seen; true flavor deserves to be tasted.
A Sensory Feast
What sets Geisha apart from ordinary coffee is its aromatic complexity and mouthfeel. While traditional coffee centers on nutty, chocolate, and caramel notes, Geisha completely transcends these frameworks, presenting floral notes reminiscent of fine perfume.
Opening the bag, you are greeted not by intense roast aromas, but by fresh florals like a jasmine garden, accompanied by delicate notes of bergamot and honeysuckle. This aroma resembles fine white tea or Earl Grey more than traditional coffee.
The flavors truly bloom after brewing. The first impression is a silky, light body — clean and transparent, with none of the heaviness of conventional coffee. Then come layers of fruit sweetness — the softness of peach, the fullness of apricot, the brightness of citrus — weaving into a symphony on the palate. Mid-palate reveals a honeyed warmth, perfectly balanced by a refreshing lemony acidity.
Most memorable is the finish. Unlike the bitterness or abrupt ending of ordinary coffee, Geisha's finish is pure and lingering, with florals that remain in the mouth long after — a grand finale that leaves you wanting more.
Letting Terroir Speak
At the Kwok Family, we have always believed: good roasting does not change the coffee — it reveals it. To fully preserve Geisha's delicate flavors, we insist on light roasting. Light roasting allows the terroir and varietal character to shine through, rather than being masked by roast aromas. This is the only choice for showcasing Geisha's true character, and Focus Espresso's respect for top-tier coffee.
Every batch of Geisha is carefully managed by our senior roasters at our local roasting workshop. Through precise temperature and time control, we achieve a perfect balance between core development and surface caramelization — maximizing Geisha's florals and fruit acidity while avoiding any unnecessary bitterness or char.
We roast to order, ensuring every bean you receive is at its flavor peak. From roasting to delivery, we race against time to place the most perfect cup in your hands.

Everything You Need to Know
Q1: Does Geisha need resting?
Yes. We recommend resting for 14 days to allow post-roast gases to release fully. Best enjoyed within 60 days.
Q2: How should I store Geisha?
Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Consume within one month after opening.
Q3: Is Geisha suitable with milk?
Not recommended. Geisha's flavors are exceptionally delicate; milk would mask its florals and fruit acidity. We suggest enjoying it black.
Q4: Why do you have different grades of Geisha?
We classify our Geisha by terroir expression, lot rarity, and sensory complexity — from the everyday Green Label, to the collector's Red Label, to the beyond-classification HC rarity. Each tier represents a deeper dialogue with terroir.
Q5: Why is Geisha more expensive?
Geisha is an extremely low-yield variety with demanding growing conditions (high altitude, specific microclimates) and requires careful hand-picking. Focus works directly with origin estates, reducing intermediaries so you enjoy top quality at a fair price.
