Before You Buy: Choose the Right Roast Profile & Grind

A practical guide to match your brewing style and taste preference

When you browse our coffee collection, you'll notice three roast profiles — Filter Cuvée, Espresso Cuvée, and Omni Cuvée — along with four grind options: Whole Bean, Filter Grind, Espresso Grind, and Press & Moka Grind. These aren't just fancy labels; they are carefully designed to help you get the best possible cup from every bean. But here's the key: you must choose based on your own brewing habits and flavour preferences — not someone else's recommendation.

Why the roast profile matters:

The same Ethiopian bean roasted as Filter Cuvée will sing with bright citrus and floral notes, perfect for pour-over. Roasted as Espresso Cuvée, it transforms into a rich, chocolatey, full-bodied shot that stands up to milk. We adjust the entire roasting curve — rate of rise, first crack timing, and drop temperature — to make the bean work for your brewer, not the other way around.

Ask Yourself Two Simple Questions

  • What brewer do I use most? (Pour-over, espresso machine, French press, AeroPress, Moka pot?)
  • What flavour profile do I enjoy? (Bright and fruity, or deep and syrupy?)

If you answered "pour-over" and "bright acidity" — go for Filter Cuvée. If you own an espresso machine and love lattes — Espresso Cuvée will delight you. If you switch between multiple brewers and want a forgiving, balanced cup every time — Omni Cuvée is your all-rounder.

Your Roast Profile Options

Pour-over · Drip

Filter Cuvée

Bright, transparent, and delicate. Highlights floral and fruit acidity. Ideal for V60, Chemex, and automatic drippers.

Espresso · Milk Drinks

Espresso Cuvée

Bold structure, rich crema, caramel sweetness, and a long finish. Built for high-pressure extraction.

Any Method

Omni Cuvée

Balanced and versatile — performs beautifully across all brewers. A safe yet exciting choice.

The Grind: The Final Critical Step

Many people underestimate grinding, but particle size directly affects extraction — too coarse and your coffee tastes sour and weak; too fine and it becomes bitter and over-extracted. We offer three precision grind settings, but always remember: Whole Bean is the best option because aroma starts to fade the moment you grind. If you have a grinder at home, we strongly encourage you to buy whole beans and grind just before brewing.

If you prefer us to do the grinding for you, here are our precise options:

Whole Bean

Sealed at peak freshness for home grinding.

Filter Grind

Medium-coarse, even particles for optimal flow and clarity.

Espresso Grind

Fine powder calibrated for the resistance needed in espresso machines.

Press & Moka Grind

Medium-coarse texture, ideal for French press, AeroPress, and Moka pots.

A Friendly Reminder When Ordering

At checkout, please double-check that the roast profile and grind size you select match your brewing equipment. If you're ever unsure, we're just a message away — we'll ask about your setup and taste preferences, then give you honest, personalised advice. Don't just copy what others buy; coffee is subjective, and only you know what brings you joy in a cup.

Explore with confidence. Try all three profiles, or buy whole beans and experiment with your own grinder. The perfect cup starts with the right choice — and ends with a moment of pure pleasure.
